Green Neighbours 21 is a grassroots, action-oriented group of people who live in Ward 21, Toronto (and beyond) who are working together to respond to climate change and other environmental issues. It is based on the belief that although the problems we face are complex and challenging, there is a lot that we can do to make a difference, and it’s a lot more fun and effective if we work together. The group helps members of the community to learn more about the issues and to live more lightly on the planet. It offers an opportunity for neighbours to meet, and helps build strong community.
GN21 is managed by a Steering Committee of local residents and by a few small teams responsible for specific projects and activities. We hold monthly public meetings on a wide range of topics as well as an annual Eco-Fair at the Wychwood Art Barns. Although we are based in Toronto’s Ward 21, we welcome participation (including ideas for meetings or projects) by anyone who shares our goals. Offers of volunteer help are especially welcome!
Green Neighbours 21 is an accredited member of Climate Action Network Canada, an umbrella group of more than 75 Canadian organizations concerned with climate change.
